Social Media and Web Coordinator

We are currently seeking a social media and marketing coordinator to help us with maintaining our social media presence, keeping our website up to date and creating content.  This is a part time position with potential for additional hours working with Sable Shortbread's affiliated companies.

You will be responsible for creating, editing and proofing original relevant content, with SEO in mind, for our website, blog, social media and marketing materials. Brand management, outreach and content management will all fall within this role. You are a seeker and an avid learner who loves to do research and have a talent for writing good copy whether the topic is mining or baking (but preferably baking).  

Responsibilities include:

  • Gaining knowledge of our industry, trends, brands and objectives
  • Creating marketing tactics and plans for new product launches, marketing initiatives, trade shows and promotions
  • Helping to maintain online store
  • Assisting with bookings for sales trips, markets as needed
  • Build and/or maintain online presence via website and social media channels
  • Managing social media content calendar that is regularly updated
  • Drafting, editing and curating social media content
  • Developing and executing creative social media campaigns as appropriate to grow social following
  • Assisting with the design of marketing materials
  • Engaging customers through social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Tracking the growth and impact of our social activities and monitor trends, best practices and techniques around social media
  • Identifying sensitive issues and potential escalations on social media
  • Monitoring emerging social media tools to see how they can be incorporated into our marketing strategies
  • Keeping a daily journal
  • Sharing social media results on a regular basis as they relate to marketing goals and objectives
  • Performing administrative duties as required

General Qualifications:

  • Experience working with popular social media management tools such as HootSuite
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter with high degree of independent thinking and judgment
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver against deadlines
  • Confident, outgoing, team player with a proactive can-do attitude
  • Strong planning and organization skills
  • Diploma or degree in communications, marketing or combination of education and work experience
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite

The following Technical Qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience and knowledge working with HTML and/or XML
  • Experience in the set up and maintenance of a database
  • Graphic design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Knowledge of online shopping platforms
  • Strong understanding of SEO and SEM
