World Baking Day is here and I am taking part in this collab with other bakers to share our favourite bakes. In May we also celebrate the patron saint of baking – St. Honore. Today I am sharing one of my favourite things to bake. Besides shortbread, that is.

It’s a family favourite; the recipe comes from Lorraine’s Nonno (grandfather). His name was Josie and he did much of the cooking when my Mom was growing up because my grandmother was busy cooking for events in some of the finest homes in Montreal. She was a private chef and would cook for elegant parties. She also owned a tea room.
I present our family pizza to you!
Be sure to head on over to your favourite bake shop today and support your local baker.
PS Stay tuned for more Italian bakes in June – it’s Italian Heritage Month – and we will be sharing our heritage.

I hope you are going to love our family’s Italian food.   It’s so comforting and delicious.  As a kid, no matter which aunt’s house we visited, the spaghetti sauce tasted exactly the same and there was always a big platter of our family pizza.  Not to mention delicious sweets.  And, if you ask, we might just share some of the wacky superstitions my Italian mother believed and that permeated my childhood.  And those rainbow cookies – could NOT get enough of those as a kid…

Welcome to the famiglia.

And that’s the truth
– the Sable Truth.
