Packing, Packing on a Summer’s Day (to the tune of Swimming) Packing, packing, on a summer’s day. There’s things to sort and things to sell and things to give away. Sell it. Toss it. KEEP. It’s nearly new. Now don’t you wish you had almost anything else to do. PACK!
Sorry, couldn’t resist the piggyback song…the teacher in me is coming out. Gotta have some fun with a job I’d really rather not have to deal with! But if we expect to move, then packing is a must. This is just about the worst part of moving, am I right? But such a necessary part; and at the end of it, you pare things down, do some good by donating things that are still useful, let some of your belongings begin again as someone else’s treasure, and keep those things you really need and love. #sharethejoy
Right now we have five 10 x 10 containers sitting on our lot. A couple contain our bakery equipment and the rest stand at the ready as we sort our belongings. Plus, we have a dumpster that we’re filling up with things to toss. In addition, there’s boxes and bags of things to donate. The stuff we’re keeping is stored in a container, ready to load onto a moving truck for the move to our new home in Nova Scotia. We have a little under a month to accomplish all this. And we need your help!!
How can you help, you ask?
There’s a Moving Sale coming up on June 29 where we’ll share some of our treasures with you so they can become your treasures. Duncan has already filled one of the containers with furniture that will be available for sale on June 29. I am sure there’ll be something for everyone. From dining room furniture to a kitchen full of Churchill Blue Willow dishes that include a teapot, mugs, cups and saucers, soup bowls, cereal bowls, platters and more. I think there might even be some vintage furniture pieces for sale. So, we’re inviting you to come by our place on June 29 to help us get ready to move.
Crafting and Sewing and Knitting, oh my!
I’ve had various hobbies and interests over the years. I’m an avid seamstress and have always been a passionate baker. I enjoy folk art painting, scrapbooking, knitting, stitching and a few other things. However, my craft room and I are ready to pare down to just some old favourites. There’s going to be craft supplies, fabric, some yarn, I think. Plus, there’ll probably be some embroidery floss and some items I bought to paint but never got around to painting.
I think I still have a stash of folk art painting magazines and cross stitch magazines and maybe even some patterns for sewing and for knitting. I am looking forward to discovering what my craft room holds in store when I head to the attic to clear it out this week. Plus, you would not believe how many KitchenAid mixers I own. And, I’m ready to part with at least one of them. Will you be the lucky person to score a mixer at the yard sale? But not to worry though, there’s a whole room of the stuff that needs to head out to new homes, so there’s bound to be something for everyone.
Buy a shelf or two or three…
If you are looking for Ikea Kallax units – we’ve got you covered. We have these versatile cube units in white, blond and dark wood tones. From the big 4 x 4 units to the small 2 x 2 units – they’re all going to be for sale. I think we must have at least one Kallax unit in every room of the house; several in others. It’s like Closets, Closets, Closets only it’s Kallax, Kallax, Kallax. There’ll be so much more on the day. I think I’ve got dozens of knick-knacks that came from my Mom’s place that I am never going to put out. If you like dust-ables – come on down!!! Do you collect tins? Well, me too. But not any more. I will have quite a few tins for sale on June 29.
Desks, we’ve got desks, lots and lots of desks…
We have Ikea Bekant desks for sale – three of them, in fact – they’re all corner return desks – these are from our office and because we won’t have room for them at the new place they need to go to new homes. They’re in like new condition. We’ve got a couple of smaller desks as well, including a standing desk. We’re sharpening our pencils and putting a good price on all of these. Yay!
Could there possibly be more?
Why yes!! We have a garage full of furniture that hasn’t seen the light of day in years. We are going to throw open the doors and if you find something in there you want – we’ll make a deal so you can take your treasure home. And then there’s the John Deere ride-on mower. We have not used it since hubby had to stop using it when he was diagnosed with narcolepsy. But he sure loved that tractor. It was running when we parked it and it’s for sale as is where is. Add to this, a patio set for sale too. There’s just so much stuff.
And now for the burning question, I know…. Will there be shortbread?
Sorry, we don’t expect there to be any shortbread since everything for baking is packed and ready for its new adventure at the other end of the country. For everyone who joins us on the day though, we’ll give you a coupon you can use for free shipping and some free cookies when our online store opens later this year. And you can score a Sable Shortbread mug available while quantities last.
So for now it’s back to Packing, packing, on a summer’s day. There’s things to sort and things to sell and things to give away. Remember to #ShareTheJoy Sable Shortbread – Real Canadian Shortbread™

And that’s the truth – the Sable Truth.
