Well, Folks.  Summer is just about behind us and the busy, busy season leading up to Christmas is nearly upon us.  Fall is a busy time for us at Sable Shortbread.  It marks the start of the holiday baking for our wholesale orders, planning for the holiday craft fairs, festivals and markets and the lead up to Christmas in our Shortbread Shop.  This year we’re looking forward to more markets, more cookies and the joy of seeing new and returning faces at the shop.

The last couple of years have certainly been tough on all of us and as small business owners, we’ve been so happy to have so many loyal customers help to keep us going.  It’s been a long and tough couple of years nonetheless, with so many closures, supply shortages, economic hurdles and the difficulty finding employees.  Finding employees is now one of our biggest challenges:  for our business to grow, we need more help.  We three family members who are keeping this thing going can only do so much!

Until we can add more help to the team, we are going to be reducing our open hours at the store.  We will still be busy working six and even seven days a week but we cannot manage to get all the baking done and have the store open at the same time quite as often as we move into this busy time of year.

Starting this week, we will be open from Wednesday to Saturday only. We hope that we will be open more days as we get closer to Christmas to make your Christmas shopping easier, but until then, please note we’ll be closed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
